The objective of the Redington NRCD is to provide leadership in promoting the conservation of all natural resources within the district. Throughout the Redington District there are few remaining ranching and farming properties. Farmland is used for crop and/or hay production as well as irrigated pasture. Using farm fields for irrigated pasture allows for rest and rotation of rangelands throughout the growing season for best management practices. Recurrent droughts continue to affect forage production, but conservation planning has lead to bet- ter management on what large ranches remain.

There is an increasing need to consider the anticipated effects of climate change on ecosystems and identify management actions that respond to these changes. This workshop will support participants from the Rio Grande National Forest in determining which climate impacts are of greatest concern to them, and identify management opportunities for adapting to change. The Adaptation Workbook provides a structured process for integrating climate change considerations into management planning and activities.

Since its humble beginnings in the mid-1980s, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation now has more than 231,000 members whose support helped complete more than 13,000 conservation and hunting heritage outreach projects that protected or enhanced more than 8.2 million acres of wildlife habitat and opened or improved public access to more than 1.3 million acres, much of which was completely off-limits to the public. RMEF boasts more than 12,000 volunteers working through more than 500 chapters.
